Safe Working with Asbestos Policy

South Staffordshire and Shropshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust recognises that exposure to respirable asbestos fibres has the potential to cause serious and irreversible disease. It may, however, be necessary to periodically remove or maintain asbestos containing materials (ACM's). Under the Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR) 2012 there is a legal requirement to manage asbestos in non-domestic premises. The Asbestos Management Plan is intended to put this policy into effect.

South Staffordshire and Shropshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has a duty to prevent, or reduce to the lowest level reasonably practicable, the spread of asbestos fibres from the workplace and thus minimise the exposure to employees by means other than the use of respiratory protective equipment.
