South Staffordshire and Shropshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is committed to delivering high quality, safe service user care and sees supervision as an essential mechanism contributing to this and will ensure its staff access supervision through a range of options. All staff will be provided with equal opportunities to engage in supervision to ensure the appropriate level of support, risk management and quality improvement is in place.
Supervision, across all health and social care professions is about focusing on best practice; highlighting it, sharing it with others and practicing it. All new staff members must be made aware of the supervision arrangements within their first week of employment, through local induction.
Supervision is not a management tool in itself, but can be used very effectively to support and promote professional practice across all roles and disciplines.
