Clozapine Treatment Policy and Operational Procedures

For patients with a diagnosis of schizophrenia or in psychotic disorders occurring during the course of Parkinson's disease, in cases where standard treatment has failed, and for whom Clozapine is an appropriate treatment option, South Staffordshire & Shropshire Healthcare Foundation Trust (SSSFT) expects that the following standards shall be met for each such patient in a manner that enables compliance with the standards to be audited.
This prescriptive approach is taken in the case of Clozapine because of its position in the treatment armamentarium as a relatively high-risk third/fourth line treatment.

NB This Policy should be read in conjunction with all Medicines Management Policies, particularly the Trust Medicines Code and Trust Formulary.
