Service User and Carer Involvement

Involvement enables the Trust to learn from the personal experiences of service users and helps us to provide services that are responding to their needs. Also, the involvement of carers recognises the value of carers’ experiences and the role they play in the service user’s recovery.

It is the responsibility of all staff to ensure that service users and their carers have a say in how services are provided and monitored and in new services being developed. Involvement can give people a better experience of services and have a positive effect on their recovery and wellbeing.

Having a say in their own care plan, attending a service user and carer forum, or taking part in an interview panel for new staff are some of the ways that service users and carers can become involved. Everyone with experience of services has something to contribute and can make a difference to the work of the Trust.
