During the week South Staffordshire and Shropshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (SSSFT) will be joining employers and apprentices from across England to celebrate the success of apprenticeships whilst encouraging even more people to choose apprenticeships as a pathway to a great career.
The theme for the #NAW2018 is ‘Apprenticeships Work’. Showcasing how apprenticeships work:
- for individuals
- for employers
- for the community
- for the wider economy
SSSFT currently has around 60 apprentices who work across the Trust in diverse roles within Health and Social Care, Business Administration, Accountancy, Customer Services and Leadership and Management.
One of our apprentices, Jessica Macready, is working in our IM&T department as an Apprentice Team Administrator. On Thursday morning, Chief Executive, Neil Carr spent time shadowing Jessica to find out more about what an apprenticeship role entails and how both the apprentice and their host organisation can benefit.
Greg Moores, Director of Workforce and Development said “Our apprentices today are the skilled, motivated and qualified workforce of the future. We are keen to support young people to join our organisation and also for people already working in the Trust to enter new areas of work and learn new skills. Apprenticeships are a great route into many NHS careers and a good way for our organisation to recruit enthusiastic and committed individuals who are ready to learn whilst playing an effective part in our workplace”.
