People using mental health services in Shropshire are invited to join a creative arts project at Severn Fields Health Village.
Artists from the Participate Gallery in Shrewsbury will support participants to design and create a large, aerial structure which will enhance the waiting area, providing additional privacy and creating a welcoming environment at the centre. A range of techniques will be explored, including the possibility of working with a poet to create a body of words / verse / poetry that can be inscribed on the sculpture to inspire those people waiting for appointments.
Jessica Kent, Arts for Health lead at SSSFT says “The workshops will take place at Severn Fields on Thursday afternoons at 1pm-3pm and again on Friday mornings at 10.30am-12.30pm and people in touch with mental health services locally are welcome to join us. We are excited by the opportunity the ‘Flight Over Severn Fields’ project offers to create a beautiful art work which will improve the experience of our service users, carers visiting the building. We are grateful to the Big Lottery for funding towards this project”.
